What ENFJ is like

Warm, organising, and constantly adjusting the temperature of whatever group it is in. This type notices who has gone quiet and does something about it, gives hard feedback in a way that leaves the person intact, and — unlike most people who are good at the encouraging part — actually follows up afterwards. Groups it belongs to function better and generally cannot point to why.

The pattern turns on itself in two ways. Absorbing everybody's state as a matter of course leaves this type unable to locate its own, so the question of what it wants goes unanswered for years. And being needed starts standing in for being loved, which is a poor substitute that works well enough to go unexamined. Managing a room is also a way of not being in it.

The turn, when it comes, is usually unpleasant and worth it: the discovery that people stay for the person rather than the service, and that the service was never the reason.
