What Easy is actually like

The Personal Element and the Spirit Guardian Element are the same, which sounds like the strongest possible reading and is deliberately not the top of the ladder. Nothing is added and nothing is taken: the setting neither feeds a person nor pushes on them, so what happens is largely what they themselves put in motion. That makes this the most legible of the five starting levels — cause and effect stay close together, effort shows up as result, and a mistake is usually traceable to the decision that caused it. The cost is that there is no tailwind either. Where the level above hands things over, this one hands over nothing at all, and a person who does not start something will find that very little starts on its own. Read it as a clear field rather than an easy one; the word is doing less work here than it looks like it is.

Difficulty is one of the readings Bond Level 2 unlocks: both elements, and four of the five Phantoms, are readable once the hour, day and month of birth are known. The fifth Phantom is read against birth gender, so filling that in at Bond Level 3 can move an already-visible level up a step.

The five births that start on Easy

A chart's starting level is decided by two elements meeting. Your Personal Element is the individual half, cast from the lunar month, the birth hour and the year stem. Your Spirit Guardian Element comes from your birth year and stands for the surroundings — everyone born that year shares it. In every pairing below, the Spirit Guardian Element and your Personal Element are the same — nothing is added and nothing is taken — which the board grades Very Good on the same five-step scale it uses for any two elements.

The birth-year column is the Spirit Guardian Element half only. Every one of the five starting levels reaches all five elements and therefore all ninety-six birth years — a birth year alone never decides a level, and it is the Personal Element in the first column that settles which of the five a chart lands on.

Why the two elements are compared at all

A difficulty level is not a score on a person. It is a measure of fit — how well what someone is made of adapts to the setting they were born into, read through the five-element cycle that already governs every other pairing on this site.

The Spirit Guardian is this app's personification of that environmental energy — the force a life is lived against rather than a quality a person has — so the Spirit Guardian Element is the surroundings, and everyone born in the same year carries the same one. Your Personal Element is the half that is yours alone: it is cast from the lunar month and the birth hour as well as the year, which is why two people born in the same year usually differ there and can land on different levels.

One thing worth separating out: the Spirit Guardian Element is not the same as the element listed beside your community on your birth year's own page. That one is the community's own branch element; this one is the element the year itself carries.

Put the two side by side and there are only five possible relations, because there are only five ways any two elements can sit in the cycle. Those five are the five starting levels, and the board grades this one Very Good.

Frequently asked

What does Easy difficulty mean?
Supportive environmental alignment and minimal trials. Focuses on gentle soul exploration.
Which birth charts start on Easy?
Five of the twenty-five element pairings, one for each Spirit Guardian Element a birth year can carry. In every one of them the Spirit Guardian Element and your Personal Element are the same — nothing is added and nothing is taken. This is the level where the two elements match, so it is the only one of the five that is a single rule rather than five separate pairings.
How well does Easy adapt to its environment?
Very Good, on the same five-step scale the board grades any two elements by. That is what a difficulty level is: your Personal Element — the individual half of your chart — read against your Spirit Guardian Element, the surroundings you were born into. The level is the degree of fit between the two, not a score on the person.
Can my difficulty level change?
The starting level cannot — both elements are fixed at birth. What moves it is the Phantoms: four add one level each and Chaos Lord adds two, so a chart starting on Easy can finish anywhere from here up to Hell Mode. Nothing pushes a level back down.
Is a lower difficulty better?
It is easier, which is not the same claim. The levels describe how much resistance a life meets between what a person is made of and what surrounds them, and the system's own framing treats the harder settings as chosen rather than inflicted. Read it as a description of conditions, not a score.

Your own level is two elements and a Phantom scan. The board reads both from a birth date and shows the working.
