What the Career mandate asks, and what it costs

This mandate ties identity to what a person does, so idleness costs more here than it does for most and good work returns more than it does for most. It asks for something worth mastering — not a job necessarily, but a domain deep enough to keep paying out over decades — and it punishes dabbling in a way that other mandates do not. The failure is the one everybody can already name and nobody with this reading notices in time: when the work stalls, so does the person, because there was never a second thing holding them up. It arrives by two roads. Either the work is private and self-started and quietly consumes far more than was budgeted, or it is visible and the self-worth attaches to how it was received rather than to whether it was good. Working well, this is the most straightforwardly effective of the six — the reading that most reliably converts effort into something that outlasts it.

The Career mandate in an animal

An animal's chart is cast the same way and lands on the same Body palace, one rung later — Bond Level 3 for a pet, because its first two rungs spend themselves on species, breed and birth year. Path of work and purpose.

How many Motivations are there?

How do I find out which Motivation is mine?
