Body & Vitality is constitution, and the concealment over it — an animal cannot report, and most species hide illness. It is the same cell of the same cast chart a person's Health Palace is read from — renamed, because an animal has no career, no marriage and no property portfolio, and a reading that kept those words would be describing a life it is not living.
What Body & Vitality describes
Every human reading of a body starts with somebody able to say where it hurts. This one starts with a creature that cannot, and that in most species is actively built to hide it — a visibly unwell animal in the wild is a selected animal, so concealment is not stoicism, it is design. That makes this palace two layers rather than one: the constitution underneath, and the cover over it. A strong reading is not the same as a young one; it is a body that bounces, eats and sleeps to a rhythm, and comes back from a bad week sooner than expected. A difficult one runs near its own limit, so ordinary strain another creature would absorb without comment shows. And now the mistake, which is the one that matters most on this page: this is not a diagnosis and it is not a prediction. Anything you can actually see — a limp, a change in drinking, weight going the wrong way — belongs to a veterinarian and never to a chart.
A pet reaches its twelve palaces at Bond Level 3 — one rung later than a person, because an animal's first two rungs are spent on species and breed and then on birth year. These twelve are also the last free reading a pet produces: there is no Soul rung for an animal.
Body & Vitality in each of the seven species
What a palace looks like depends on the animal standing in it, and this is the whole of that difference for this one. A bird's version of Body & Vitality is not a fish's, and neither is the version you know from living with something warm-blooded.

Whether the keeper bond runs through here
Not this one. An animal has exactly two roles on the Bonding Map, not five: Litter & Legacy is where a keeper reads their companion, and Keeper & Care is where the animal reads its keeper. Body & Vitality is read on one chart at a time.
That asymmetry is the difference between an animal's chart and a person's on the board. A person can be declared a parent, a sibling, a partner, an heir or a colleague — five directions through five palaces. An animal has two, and they are the two ends of one bond.
