Each page reads its palace across all twelve Spirit Guardian communities — the twelve readings a chart chooses between.

How the twelve are arranged

The three groups these pages are filed under are a reader's lenses. The chart's own structure is position, and it produces two groupings that hold for every chart ever cast, because all twelve palaces turn together and their distances from each other never change.

The first is the axis: the palace directly across the ring, six places away. A palace and the one facing it are read together, and a chart that looks lopsided on one of them usually reads differently once the other is set beside it. There are six axes and every palace is in exactly one — including this group's own two, which face each other.

Each axis is listed once, from whichever half comes first as a chart walks the ring.

The four trines

The second grouping is the trine — the three palaces sitting four places apart, which makes a triangle on the ring. These are the four the app names as Themes on the Time Analysis screen. None of them sits inside one of the three groups, and every group is spread across at least two, which is the clearest evidence that the groups are a way of reading rather than a fact about the chart.

Who a chart seats in Inner Persona

A palace is a domain, and a domain has an occupant. The figure a chart places in Inner Persona is one of fifteen Avatars — the Ringmaster, the Custodian, the Tide Lord and twelve others, including an Empty Throne for a domain that holds no major figure at all. That occupant is what gives this palace its character, and nobody picks theirs.

What are the Persona Palaces?

Two of the twelve palaces a cast chart divides a life into — Inner Persona, Outer Persona. They are the two palaces that describe a person rather than a slice of their life, and the geometry binding all twelve. Every chart has all twelve palaces; what changes from person to person is which of the twelve Spirit Guardians holds each one, and that pairing is the reading.

Why are there only two Persona Palaces?

Because only two of the twelve describe a person rather than a part of that person's life, and the bond engine draws the same line. It reserves Inner Persona and Outer Persona for its own second layer and reads the other ten together in a third, on the grounds that these two say who somebody is while the rest say what is happening to them. Two is the whole group, not a group with members missing.

What is the difference between the Inner Persona and Outer Persona Palace?

One is the self nobody else gets to see and the other is the self everybody meets. Inner Persona holds temperament — the reactions that arrive before a decision is made. Outer Persona holds everything past the front door: travel, new rooms, and the version of a person who walks into them. They sit directly across the ring from each other, six places apart, which is why they are read as a pair rather than separately.

What are the four trines and the six axes?

Two ways palaces are bound to each other by position alone. An axis is the pair facing across the ring, six places apart, and there are six; a trine is the three sitting four places apart, and there are four. Both hold for every chart ever cast, because all twelve turn together and their distances never change — so the Core Identity trine is Inner Persona, Career, Wealth whoever is reading it.
