- Three of five
Five of the twelve palaces cover what a life is built out of: what it earns, what it does, where it lives, what it is made of, and what it inherited. These are the most concrete of the twelve and the easiest to check against a life as it is actually being lived, which is usually where a sceptical reader starts.
The five palaces
Genesis Palace
Inheritance and Inner Fortune
What a life is built on and quietly running on, and the reserves behind it.
Property Palace
Home, Land and Where You Live
Homes, land, and whether a place restores the person inside it.
Career Palace
Work, Reputation and Authority
The trajectory rather than the job — standing, authority, recognition.
Health Palace
Constitution, Vitality and Strain
Constitution rather than diagnosis — the margin a body starts with.
Wealth Palace
Money, Income and Resources
How money moves through a life rather than what has piled up in it.
Each page reads its palace across all twelve Spirit Guardian communities — the twelve readings a chart chooses between.
The group the engine measures
Every one of these five carries weight on at least one Vessel Stat axis, which is true of neither other group. That is not the same as carrying the most — Inner Persona on its own is weighted on all six. What is particular here is that none of the five is invisible: a star landing in any of them moves a score.
| Palace | Vessel Stats it feeds | Also a Motivation |
|---|---|---|
| Genesis | Intellect, Health | Yes |
| Property | Fortune | — |
| Career | Leadership, Resilience, Fortune, Intellect | Yes |
| Health | Health, Resilience | — |
| Wealth | Fortune, Leadership | Yes |
Property and Health are the only two palaces of the twelve that no other page on this site reaches under any name.
Three of them share a name with a Motivation
Genesis, Career, Wealth each name a Motivation as well, and it is a different reading with the same word. A Motivation is what a life keeps being pulled towards; a palace is the part of a life being described. A chart can have a strong Genesis Palace without Genesis being the thing driving it.
Only six of the twelve domains can be a Motivation at all — the palace that decides it can never land on the other six — so the overlap is not a naming accident that could have been avoided. Each of the three pages names and links its namesake rather than leaving a reader to work out which one they landed on.
The other two groups
Three groups, because they are a reader's lenses rather than the chart's own structure. The structure is the four trines and six axes, which cut clean across all three.
- Persona Palaces— the two palaces that describe a person rather than a slice of their life, and the geometry binding all twelve
- Relationship Palaces— the five palaces a relationship is read through — one for each direction a bond can run
Frequently asked
- What are the Foundation Palaces?
- Five of the twelve palaces a cast chart divides a life into — Genesis, Property, Career, Health, Wealth. They are the five palaces a life is built out of, and the only five the scoring engine measures. Every chart has all twelve palaces; what changes from person to person is which of the twelve Spirit Guardians holds each one, and that pairing is the reading.
- Why is this the group the scoring engine measures?
- Because every one of the five carries weight on at least one Vessel Stat axis, which is true of no other group — two of the five Persona palaces do, and only two of the five Relationship palaces. That is not the same as carrying the most: Inner Persona on its own is weighted on all six axes. What is particular here is that none of the five is invisible to the scoring.
- Is the Career Palace the same as the Career Motivation?
- No, and three of these five share a name with a Motivation the same way — Wealth, Career and Genesis. A Motivation is what a life keeps being pulled towards; a palace is the part of a life being described. A chart can easily have a strong Career Palace without Career being the thing driving it, and only six of the twelve domains can be a Motivation at all.
- Which of these five palaces is written about least elsewhere?
- Property and Health. They are the only two of the twelve that no other page on this site reaches — every other palace is touched by a Motivation page, a Vessel Stat page, or a Bonding Map lens under some other name. That makes their own pages the only place either one is explained at length, which is worth knowing before skipping them.
Five palaces, and a score for each. Seat yourself on the board and it casts all twelve from a birth date rather than a table.
