What the Sibling Palace describes

This palace holds the people standing level with you. Brothers and sisters first, then everybody who occupies the same rank without being family: colleagues at the same grade, the cohort you started alongside, the friends who knew you before there was anything to be impressed by. It is the first place most people learn to compete and cooperate with the same person on the same day, and the pattern set there tends to hold for decades. A strong reading is a bench — a handful of equals who turn up without an invoice attached.
