The Outer Persona Palace is everything past the front door — travel, relocation, and how a person is met. Every chart has one, and what separates two people is not whether they have it but which of the twelve Spirit Guardians is holding it — that pairing is the reading, and all twelve of them are below.
What the Outer Persona Palace describes
This palace covers everything past the front door: travel, relocation, the rooms a person was not raised in, and the version of them that walks into those rooms. It is the half of an identity other people actually meet, which is why it so often reads differently from the palace directly across the ring from it. A strong reading shows up as luck that looks like coincidence — the introduction that led somewhere, the work that came out of a trip, the second life available in a place nobody planned to be. A difficult one makes the world outside expensive: movement costs more than it returns, and the reasonable response is to stop moving, which is usually the wrong one. What this palace does not measure is how much somebody is liked. It measures how far their reach carries, and how much of it comes back.
This palace is read for a person. An animal's chart lands on the same cell and is read as Socialising & Impressions instead — same position, no career and no marriage in it.
The 12 Palaces are read at Bond Level 3. None of this exists without a cast chart — a birth year on its own names a Spirit Guardian and no palaces at all.
The Outer Persona Palace in each of the twelve communities
The same domain reads differently depending on who is holding it, and this is the whole of that difference for this palace. Find the community holding your Outer Persona Palace and the row is your baseline — the starting reading, before anything sitting in the palace adjusts it.
| Spirit Guardian | What it makes of the Outer Persona Palace |
|---|---|
| Whale Spirit Guardian | Opportunities abroad (trade, education). Dynamic environments favor growth. |
| Taurus Spirit Guardian | Travel for work (not leisure). Opportunities in stable industries abroad. Caution in mountainous terrain. |
| Lion Spirit Guardian | Frequent travel for adventure/work. Opportunities in innovation hubs. Caution in forests/mountains. |
| Cat Spirit Guardian | Travel for culture/relaxation. Opportunities in arts/education abroad. Caution in forests/gardens (spiritual sensitivity). |
| Dragon Spirit Guardian | Opportunities abroad for expansion. Thrive in dynamic cities. Caution near mountains/construction sites. |
| Snake Spirit Guardian | Travel for research/seclusion. Opportunities in tropical regions. Caution near fire/poisonous creatures. |
| Horse Spirit Guardian | Wanderlust-driven success. Caution in deserts/hot climates. |
| Goat Spirit Guardian | Travel for relaxation. Avoid risky destinations. |
| Monkey Spirit Guardian | Opportunities come through networking abroad. |
| Eagle Spirit Guardian | Opportunities in Western countries. Prefers orderly destinations. |
| Wolf Spirit Guardian | Opportunities come through helping others abroad. |
| Elephant Spirit Guardian | Opportunities near water. Cruises/spa destinations favorable. |
In the order the cycle turns. A community holds one palace in any given chart, so these twelve readings are alternatives to each other rather than a list of things all true at once.
What the Outer Persona Palace is bound to
Position binds palaces to each other, and those bonds hold for every chart because all twelve turn together. The Outer Persona Palace faces Inner Persona across the ring, six places away. The two are read as a pair: whatever is happening in one is felt in the other, and a chart that looks lopsided on Outer Persona alone often reads differently once Inner Persona is set beside it.
It also belongs to the Social Relation trine with Romance and Genesis — three palaces four places apart, making a triangle on the ring. A trine tends to move together, so strength in one of the three is rarely isolated and neither is strain.
The lens the board reads this palace through
When two charts are compared on the Bonding Map, the relationship you name decides which palace the comparison runs in. Stranger reads through the Outer Persona Palace — so seating somebody as a Stranger is choosing this domain as the ground the two of you are measured on.
That is worth knowing before reading anything above. A difficult reading here is not a verdict on a particular person; it describes the ground, and the same ground is underneath every relationship of that kind.
Where else Outer Persona shows up
There is a Outer Persona Motivation as well, and it is a different reading with the same name. A Motivation is what a life keeps being pulled towards; this palace is the part of a life being described. Only six of the twelve domains can be a Motivation at all, and a chart can easily have a strong Outer Persona Palace without Outer Persona being what drives it.
Stars landing in this palace also carry weight for the Vessel Stats below, which is why a chart with a well-placed Outer Persona Palace often reads tall on them without anything else explaining it.
| Vessel Stat | Weight for stars in Outer Persona |
|---|---|
| Charisma | ×1.0 |
| Leadership | ×0.5 |

Frequently asked
- What does the Outer Persona Palace mean?
- It is everything past the front door — travel, relocation, and how a person is met.
- Which palace sits opposite the Outer Persona Palace?
- The Inner Persona Palace, six places across the ring. A palace and the one facing it are read together rather than separately — whatever is happening in one is felt in the other, and a chart that looks unbalanced on Outer Persona alone often reads differently once Inner Persona is put beside it. The Outer Persona Palace also belongs to the Social Relation trine with Romance and Genesis.
- Does everybody have a Outer Persona Palace?
- Yes. All twelve palaces are present in every chart — that is what makes them a map rather than a score. What differs between two people is which of the twelve Spirit Guardians holds each palace, and that is what the twelve readings on this page describe. There is no chart with a missing palace and no chart with two of the same.
- How do I find out which Spirit Guardian holds my Outer Persona Palace?
- Seat yourself on the Bonding Map and it is read for you. It is worked out from a cast chart rather than from anything that can be looked up directly, because casting one means converting a birth into a lunar date and a true hour against the timezone it happened in — the board does that conversion, which is the part that is easy to get wrong by hand.
One palace is a twelfth of a chart. The board casts all twelve from a birth date and says which community is holding each one.
